Milky Way over Wagon Wheel
For most of my milky way photographic adventures I try to plan around the cycles of the moon, as you really want a nice dark sky. But sometimes, if you let yourself experiment with the in between times, you can capture something unique. Here the light from the rising moon, which has not quite crested the mountains to the left of the shot, creates some nice shadows and highlights on Thimble Peak over Kirkwood Mountain Resort. The chairlift in the foreground is called Wagon Wheel or The Wall.
